Summary of Responsibilities
- Reviews the completed tasks of students in the laboratory
- Ensures the lab is operated safely and in compliance
- Maintains a clean and organized laboratory
- Reviews tools and inventory to ensure that all items are returned and properly accounted for
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be a current UVU student majoring in Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing, or a related field. Must have a basic understanding of electrical circuits, PLC fundamentals, industrial safety procedures, and hand tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLC programming
- Robotics
- Motor controls
- Pneumatics
- Oscilloscopes
- SCADA systems
- Inventory management systems
- Tutoring, mentoring, or customer service
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the correct operation and safe use of the tools and equipment students use to complete their lab tasks
- Knowledge of electrical safety and basic wiring knowledge
- Knowledge of UVU Mechatronics program policies and procedures
- Skill in the operation, adjustment, calibration, and maintenance of the electrical, CNC, powertools and related components and equipment used in the Mechatronics Lab
- Ability to adapt to the variations in the curriculum and course material, to solve problems and think on your feet
- Ability to communicate effectively with an instructor and multiple students
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal directions
- Ability to explain detailed procedures to students
- Ability to speak loud enough to be heard over the general noise of a Mechatronics lab
