Key Responsibilities

Drive reading and writing advancement across all K-2 students through structured literacy instruction and adaptive learning platforms.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Master's degree in reading instruction OR certification in structured literacy such as Wilson Reading System, Orton-Gillingham, CERI, IMSE, Neuhaus, LETRS, or UFLI
  • 2+ years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction employing systematic phonics in a school or clinical environment, completed within the last 5 years
  • Demonstrated experience creating original reading lessons, with the ability to articulate what you teach and your instructional approach without citing a published program
  • Able to work on-site at Waypoint Academy, Dripping Springs (Austin area), TX
  • Instruct all K-2 students (beyond struggling readers only) and utilize AI-driven adaptive learning platforms daily
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Proficiency with multiple structured literacy approaches (e.g., Orton-Gillingham and UFLI) and a clear understanding of when each framework is most appropriate
  • Documented reading improvements across an entire student cohort, not solely intervention groups. Specify the assessment measures and the results
  • Working knowledge of adaptive reading systems (Amira, Lexia, Reading Eggs, or comparable tools) and translating their analytics into instructional choices
  • Background in alternative educational environments: outdoor education programs, micro-schools, Montessori settings, or similar models

Skills

Deliver small-group structured literacy instruction: systematic phonics, decoding, fluency, and foundational writing for all K-2 students, not limited to those identified for intervention

Interpret student performance data from adaptive applications and running records to reconfigure groups and modify instruction between sessions

Provide individual and small-group coaching through adaptive learning platforms, establishing relationships that ensure goal completion

Create original lessons grounded in structured literacy principles, customized to each group's present skill level and learning velocity

Integrate selected outdoor or experiential activities to strengthen literacy concepts when they authentically support learning objectives

Pay

  • $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year
