Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- Master's degree in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification including Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, or UFLI
- 2+ years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction utilizing systematic phonics in a school or clinical environment, completed within the past 5 years
- Demonstrated ability to design original reading lessons, with capacity to articulate your instructional content and methods independently of any published curriculum
- Available to work on-site at Waypoint Academy, Dripping Springs (Austin area), TX
- Instruct all K-2 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and integrate AI-powered adaptive learning platforms into daily instruction
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Proficiency with multiple structured literacy methodologies (e.g., Orton-Gillingham and UFLI) accompanied by clear reasoning for selecting each approach in specific contexts
- Documented reading achievement gains across complete student cohorts, not only intervention subgroups. Specify the assessment tools and results
- Working knowledge of adaptive reading technologies (Lexia, Amira, Reading Eggs, or comparable systems) and applying their analytics to inform instructional planning
- Background in alternative educational settings: micro-schools, outdoor learning programs, Montessori environments, or similar models
What You Will Be Doing
- Delivering small-group structured literacy instruction: systematic phonics, decoding, fluency, and foundational writing for all K-2 students
- Evaluating student performance data from adaptive platforms and running records to reorganize groups and modify instruction between sessions
- Providing one-on-one and small-group coaching through adaptive learning software, establishing relationships that ensure goal attainment
- Creating original lessons grounded in structured literacy principles, customized to each group's present skill level and learning rate
- Integrating selected outdoor or experiential activities to strengthen literacy concepts where they authentically support learning objectives
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Developing IEPs or managing pull-out intervention schedules with classroom teachers
- Passively monitoring students on learning platforms
- Remaining in a conventional classroom environment all day
- Grading extensive worksheet assignments
