The Structural Engineering Intern will report to an assigned Project Manager or Principal. The Intern’s main responsibility is assisting project managers and technical staff with project work and organizational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Organize files and documents.
  • Support staff members by completing tasks as delegated.
  • Complete basic engineering calculations for review by other team members.
  • Review their own work to ensure completeness and quality.
  • Communicate effectively with team members.
  • Be a productive and cooperative member of the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • University student with a focus in Civil or Architectural Engineering.
  • Graduate or upperclassmen preferred; freshmen or sophomores may apply.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.

Skills

  • Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing internally and externally.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and retain information and ideas presented verbally and in writing.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Part-time/flexible schedule; 10-20 hours preferred.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to visit project sites as necessary for troubleshooting and to ensure engineering quality.
