About the role

Join Garver's Water Design Center (WDC) in College Station, TX as a Structural Engineering Intern. You'll work with a close-knit team of water treatment facility planning and design experts, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and professional environment while contributing to innovative solutions for pressing water needs in communities across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and other ancillary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure projects.
  • Develop finite element models to analyze various structures.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the water/wastewater treatment process and the role of structural engineers.
  • Design treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, retaining walls, and other supporting structures.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Review construction submittals.

  • Engage daily with fellow interns and industry professionals to build your network.
  • Participate in Garver's wellness program to prioritize overall well-being.
  • Give back to the community through volunteer activities as part of Garver Gives initiative.
  • Collaborate with Garver's Learning and Development team for tailored training and skills-based courses.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a structural engineering major from an ABET accredited program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position with duties generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations may be required for work-related tasks or meetings.
