About the role
Garver's Water Design Center (WDC) in Harlingen, TX is looking for a passionate student to join as a Structural Engineering Intern. You'll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, professional environment, working with a dedicated team committed to making a tangible difference in communities across the region by crafting innovative solutions to address pressing water needs.
Internship Description
Day-to-day responsibilities include the development of detailed structural designs for a variety of projects including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and other ancillary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure projects.
- Develop finite element models to analyze various structures
- Develop a basic understanding of the water/wastewater treatment process and the importance of the role of structural engineers
- Typical designs will include treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, retaining walls, and other supporting structures
- Prepare construction cost estimates
- Review construction submittals

Requirements
- Candidates must be pursuing a structural engineering major from an ABET accredited program
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment
This is an in-office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
