Streets Maintenance Worker, Part-time
About the role
The City of Chino is seeking a part-time Streets Maintenance Worker to join their team. The position involves repairing and maintaining streets, alleys, and public right-of-way, installing and maintaining street signs and markings, and responding to debris and minor repairs.
Responsibilities
- Repair and replace concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and other concrete structures.
- Operate tools and equipment such as rollers, dump trucks, backhoes, jack hammers, air compressors, and tractors.
- Set up traffic control and safety zones.
- Install and maintain street signs and street markings using equipment and tools such as a pneumatic drill, banding equipment, rivets, and paint sprayer.
- Respond to debris in the roadway, perform weed abatement, and complete minor fence repair.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of traffic laws and ordinances, techniques for street repair, asphalt patching, concrete mixing, traffic control, and safety.
- Ability to properly operate loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, string trimmers, blowers, herbicide spray, and spray rig.
- Excitement for challenges, learning, and a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Special Requirements
- Mobility to work in the field and to perform medium to heavy physical work.
- Operate a motor vehicle and visit various community sites.
- Vision to inspect and operate equipment.
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 50 pounds or heavier weights, in all cases with the use of proper equipment and/or assistance from other staff.
