Streets Maintenance Worker

Position Description

The City of Waco seeks a Streets Maintenance Worker to join their team. This position involves performing various unskilled and semi-skilled tasks related to street, roadway, and infrastructure maintenance.

Essential Functions

• Performs unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks to maintain and repair streets, roadways, and infrastructure.
• Operates City vehicles and mechanized equipment and performs street cleaning, repair, and maintenance tasks.
• Sets up work zones, assists equipment operators as directed, and cross-trains in a variety of PWD skills.
• Inspects equipment and tools for proper operating condition; repairs, maintains, and adjusts equipment; follows safety precautions; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
• May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in case of departmental or City-wide emergencies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff, maintaining confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Upon Hire: Required

Preferred

• 1 year of manual labor experience

Minimum Starting Salary

$17.5000 per hour
