Strategy Analyst - (Reimbursement)

Support leadership of Highmark, or its affiliates with a range of reimbursement strategy activities essential to Highmark's provider partnerships and margin goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business/market owners to identify key business issues, articulate problems, apply the right analytical framework, develop solutions and recommendations, represent findings to stakeholders, and own the outcome.
  • Under the guidance of Strategy Consultants and Leadership, participate in or lead small to medium-sized strategy projects/work streams with the help of internal or external strategy consulting resources.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (resource) to staff and stakeholders on membership, growth, and operational strategy issues.
  • Provide periodic informal work guidance/direction to other team members; provide performance input and recommendations to management for development/training plans. May have supervisory responsibilities on a project basis.
  • Apply a broad knowledge of concepts and principles to develop analytical frameworks, approaches, and methodology best practices to analyze complex strategy issues, often applying ingenuity and originality to develop unique solutions.
  • Isolate policy, mandate, and compliance issues.
  • Help design and execute analytics for cost containment (market research, scenario planning, forecasting, market share, profitability, etc.).
  • Develop communication content (competitive intelligence, market trend analysis).
  • Support development of formal recommendations to senior levels of Highmark leadership.
  • Create strategic impact packages and presentations (go-to-market or operational strategies, etc.) that inform critical strategic decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Life Sciences, or other related degree (or six years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree).
  • 3-5 years of relevant, progressive experience in strategy/management consulting firms or internal strategy groups of healthcare and related companies.
  • Strong PC application skills (MS Office including PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in strategic thinking, plus working knowledge of other related fields.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry trends and challenges.
  • 0% - 25% travel requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Health, Economics, or other related degree.
  • Experience in Health Insurance operations and technology.
  • Experience in operational improvement.

Skills

  • Strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and presentation development.
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert on membership, growth, and operational strategy.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Office-based position.
  • Regularly teaches/trains others.
  • Occasionally travels from the office to various work sites or from site-to-site.
  • Rarely lifts 10 to 25 pounds; constantly lifts up to 10 pounds.

Pay

Base pay range: $86,400.00 – $138,600.00. Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. Geographic differentials may apply for certain locations based on comparative markets.
