Strategic Product Group Phoenix - Product Specialist

About the Role

The Product Specialist provides subject matter expertise in the promotion and sales of strategic product lines. This role involves developing and maintaining senior relationships with Sales and Engineering teams, managing projects at target accounts, and assisting the National Product Sales Manager in executing new sales strategies for products as they are developed and released to the market.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed technical feedback to engineering and marketing for new product development.
• Identify competitive industry trends.
• Document sales calls, projects, opportunities, contacts, success reports, and activity in CRM.
• Effectively utilize SMC tools and resources to ensure organizational consistency and efficiency.
• Engage directly with target accounts and their projects related to SMC products, including understanding buying influences and technical requirements for product introduction.
• Provide continuous training to SMC sales and distributor sales personnel on product functionality and customer benefits, such as increased efficiency and lower machine costs.
• Introduce new products internally and externally.
• Identify new business opportunities and generate leads within the assigned market.
• Participate in national, regional, and local trade shows to support product promotion.
• Administer detailed technical presentations to all levels of customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience in industrial automation.
• Experience with or knowledge of competitive products.
• Demonstrated ability to size and implement high-tech products.
• Extensive experience with various manufacturing products and processes, including packaging, electronics, food, laser cutting, pharmaceutical, life science, chemical, and automotive.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods.
• Frequent travel to customer facilities, with the physical ability to closely observe factory automation equipment on-site.
• Overnight travel exceeding 50% may be required.
• Ability to handle and transport samples up to 50 lbs.
