Steward - The Chatham Inn

About the Role

The steward is responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment and areas such as dishwashing, kitchen, cafeteria, compactor, and storage according to hotel specifications and standards. This role involves washing pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils and equipment, as well as assigning other cleaning projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machines and manually wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including floors, walls, workstations, and equipment.
• Ensure all areas are free from debris and hazards.
• Properly dispose of waste and recyclables.
• Maintain cleanliness in trash disposal areas.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
• Safely operate and maintain dishwashing equipment.
• Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.

Requirements

• Experience in a similar position is preferred.
• Communicate effectively in English with guests, management, and co-workers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
