Patient Care Specialist Duties And Responsibilities

  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.
  • Enhance the organization's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with the following direction.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform non-sterile and sterile compounding per strict USP 795/797/800 guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Properly use, calibrate and maintain equipment needed in making compounds.
  • Sampling batches for quality testing.
  • Executes required in-process product quality checks and documents accurately.
  • Perform a miscellaneous inventory of consumables to ensure proper stock.
  • Operate, clean and sterilize aseptic compounding equipment and compounding areas.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in the compounding areas.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Training of other staff.
  • Ensure all calculations on compounding log sheets are accurate and correct.
  • Track, order, and receive orders of supplies.
  • Follow all SOPs, USP and all other safety and company policies, double-check calculations, record compounding procedures, lot and expiry of ingredients.
  • Cookpound with other pharmacy team members to compound preparations and execute quality assurance procedures, following standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure all compounds are prepared in accordance with the master formulas and in accordance with USP, USP, and USP.
  • Maintain and clean all laboratory equipment, instruments, utensils, and work surfaces necessary/required for the preparations.
  • Monitor and record inventory of chemicals, materials.
  • Cleaning of all work areas, including work surfaces, equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, etc.

Patient Care Specialist Requirements And Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience as a Certified Pharmacy Technician Required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Current Texas Pharmacy Technician Certificate --CPhT.
  • Proof Sterile and Non-Sterile Training Required.
  • 2 years of sterile and non-sterile compounding lab experience.
  • Experience with Compounding 360/Pharmacy Stars Software.
  • Experience with Compounding creams, capsules, and troches a plus.
  • Compounding Sterile Products such as IV's TPN's and Peptides Required.
  • Ability to cope with varied levels of workload and multiple tasks.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Willingness to be a team player and promote a positive team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible and proactive to meet varied patient and company needs.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills.
  • Able to read, write and speak English proficiently, other languages are a plus.
  • Ability to perform simple pharmaceutical calculations for individual prescriptions.
  • Must be able to meet physical demands which may include light lifting.
