Job Duties
- Performs all duties required to operate, repair, and maintain machinery, equipment, and systems in Harris County facilities within City, County, and State guidelines.
- May be required to drive a personal or county vehicle to various work sites.
- Affords supervision duties when the supervisor is absent, trains less experienced co-workers, and performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to be on call after hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of hands-on experience in various aspects of building engineering operations and contract management relating to the repair, maintenance, and operation of commercial and/or industrial facilities.
- One year of experience with computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions in a thorough, neat, and timely manner and display mechanical aptitude.
- Valid Texas driver's License.
- Skilled in the care and use of hand tools and power equipment used in maintenance engineering trades.
- Maintain a courteous, helpful behavior at all times.
- Self-starter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
- Ability to receive CJIS clearance, pass a security check, and a drug test, as required.
Automatic Disqualification
- Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous 10 years.
- Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor).
- Family Violence conviction.
Preferences
- 3rd grade or higher, Stationary Engineer License.
Physical Demands and Environmental Exposure
- May work outside in all kinds of weather; may work with no air conditioning or heating, will work on ladders and scaffolding;
- Duties require standing, sitting, stretching, bending, stooping, climbing, frequent lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment, and must have the ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices for heavier items.
- Will work in cramped and awkward positions with all types of mechanical tools, electric and other equipment, and may be exposed to dust, dirt, paint fumes, etc.
