Stationary Technician - Building Operation Services

Job Duties

• Performs all duties required to operate, repair, and maintain machinery, equipment, and systems in Harris County facilities within City, County, and State guidelines.
• May be required to drive a personal or county vehicle to various work sites.
• Affords supervision duties when the supervisor is absent, trains less experienced co-workers, and performs other duties as assigned.
• May be required to be on call after hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Five (5) years of hands-on experience in various aspects of building engineering operations and contract management relating to the repair, maintenance, and operation of commercial and/or industrial facilities.
• One year of experience with computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite, spreadsheets, and database applications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions in a thorough, neat, and timely manner and display mechanical aptitude.
• Valid Texas driver's License.
• Skilled in the care and use of hand tools and power equipment used in maintenance engineering trades.
• Maintain a courteous, helpful behavior at all times.
• Self-starter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
• Ability to receive CJIS clearance, pass a security check, and a drug test, as required.

Automatic Disqualification

• Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous 10 years.
• Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor).
• Family Violence conviction.

Preferences

• 3rd grade or higher, Stationary Engineer License.

Physical Demands and Environmental Exposure

• May work outside in all kinds of weather; may work with no air conditioning or heating, will work on ladders and scaffolding;
• Duties require standing, sitting, stretching, bending, stooping, climbing, frequent lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment, and must have the ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices for heavier items.
• Will work in cramped and awkward positions with all types of mechanical tools, electric and other equipment, and may be exposed to dust, dirt, paint fumes, etc.
