Job Duties
Performs all duties required to operate, repair, and maintain machinery, equipment, and systems in Harris County facilities within City, County, and State guidelines.
May be required to drive a personal or county vehicle to various work sites.
Affords the opportunity to assume the supervisor's duties when the supervisor is absent, train less experienced co-workers, and perform other duties as assigned.
May be required to be on call after hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience: Five (5) years of hands-on experience in various aspects of building engineering operations and contract management relating to the repair, maintenance, and operation of commercial and/or industrial facilities.
- One year of experience with computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions in a thorough, neat, and timely manner and display mechanical aptitude.
- Valid Texas driver's License.
- Skilled in the care and use of hand tools and power equipment used in maintenance engineering trades.
- Maintain a courteous, helpful behavior at all times.
- Self-starter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
- Ability to receive CJIS clearance, pass a security check, and a drug test, as required.
Automatic Disqualification
- Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for any Felony, and any Class A Misdemeanor Convictions, probation, or deferred adjudication for a Class B Misdemeanor, if within the previous 10 years.
- Open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor).
- Family Violence conviction.
Preferences
- Education: 3rd grade or higher, Stationary Engineer License.
General Information
- Position Type: Full-Time | Regular | 40 hours per week.
- Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload.
- Salary: Commensurate experience, based on 26 pay periods.
- Physical Demands And Environmental Exposure: May work outside in all kinds of weather; may work with no air conditioning or heating, will work on ladders and scaffolding; duties require standing, sitting, stretching, bending, stooping, climbing, frequent lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment, and must have the ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices for heavier items. Will work in cramped and awkward positions with all types of mechanical tools, electric and other equipment, and may be exposed to dust, dirt, paint fumes, etc.
