Shift

Days, 6:30 am–7 pm MST, every other weekend required. Working days are either 3-12's or potentially can be flexed within a consistent schedule that is coordinated with another staffing coordinator to provide 7-day coverage for the department.

Compensation

$19.58/hour – $28.20/hour; plus applicable shift differential for weekends

About the role

Coordinate coverage for all nursing positions and maintain staffing records and communications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of staffing office experience

  • Ability to compile data, analyze data, and make decisions that support department and hospital objectives, using data
  • Excellent organization and customer service skills
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly while meeting established deadlines
  • Ability to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel
  • Ability to determine or interpret work procedures for a group of workers, assigning specific duties to them, maintaining harmonious relations among them and promoting efficiency
  • Advanced team-building, conflict resolution, and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy, dependability, and strong attention to detail both mechanically and technically
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position
  • General knowledge of extracting information from database systems preferred
  • Above average problem-solving skills, judgment, and flexibility
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft applications

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of job duties and current treatment trends through attending department meetings and educational in-services
  • Demonstrates an ability to work well with others; initiates and facilitates positive interactions, openness to ideas, flexibility and awareness of non-verbal information
  • Reviews all staff schedules and makes recommendations to the Staffing Office Nurse Leader for new hires to accommodate employee FTE's and hospital unit's needs
  • Makes a recommendation to nursing personnel when staff requests schedule changes
  • Reviews all PTO and education leave requests; follows established policies when taking action
  • Reviews with the Staffing Office Nurse Leader when questions arise
  • Participates in department performance improvement opportunities; audits work for accuracy and uses data to inform decisions
  • Demonstrates an awareness of department goals and participates in achieving these goals
  • Accepts, gives and invites feedback in a manner appropriate for growth or improvement in job performance; uses information and feedback to solve problems and to generate suggestions for improvement
  • Directs concern to appropriate team members/Nurse Leader in a timely and constructive manner; describes problems accurately, actively listens, influences positive change and maintains others’ credibility
  • Maintains team confidentiality
  • Provides direction, leadership and training for the staffing coordinators, as requested
  • Uses good judgment for a safe and pleasant work environment
  • Maintains and distributes records of work schedules, open positions, PTO, leaves, EIB, worker’s compensation, daily absences, tardiness, continuing education and employee status
  • Reviews Kronos on an ongoing basis for accuracy of use for times worked and budget allocation for the nursing department
  • Generates management reports for Nursing Leadership as directed
  • Reviews and verifies accuracy of agency billing
  • Fosters collaboration and teamwork; asks for help as needed and offers assistance to others when able
  • Practices effective communication and conflict resolution, including direct communication in a timely, constructive and private manner; seeks assistance of the department Nurse Leader if staff is unable to resolve the conflict directly
  • Promotes a welcoming environment for all co-workers, patients, families and visitors by treating them with courtesy, dignity and respect
