Staffing Assistant - Resource Management Center

Key Responsibilities
- Cook up and distribute nursing and ancillary staff across various inpatient units to keep staffing ratios appropriate.
- Evaluate staffing needs at least every 4 hours, making adjustments based on census, acuity, and unit needs.
- Collaborate with Hospital Supervisors and unit Charge Nurses to assess real-time staffing needs and operational demands.
- Participate in staffing huddles to discuss current census, available staff/resources, and anticipated needs.
- Create and communicate staffing plans for upcoming shifts, ensuring smooth transitions between shifts.
- Handle incoming calls from care team members, including call-outs and schedule changes.
- Respond to unit updates such as admissions, discharges, and new patient safety needs.
- Use the scheduling platform, Smart Square, to track staffing, assignments, and workforce availability.
- Maintain open and clear communication across all levels of hospital operations to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Degree or Equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in healthcare operations, staffing coordination, or hospital-based roles.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make real-time decisions in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with scheduling systems and basic computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) or clinical background.
- Prior experience in staffing/resource allocation, bed management, or centralized staffing office.
- Familiarity with hospital workflows, inpatient unit operations, and patient acuity considerations.
- Experience using Smart Square or similar workforce management platforms.
