Responsibilities
- Manage goal-directed nursing care through the nursing process and principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.
- Keep patients and families informed regularly and as needed.
- Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care.
- Develop, discuss, and communicate a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient in collaboration with family/significant others to address all identified needs.
- Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures.
- Evaluate identified problems, care provided, and patient responses to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care to assure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
- Maintain current knowledge, certification, and licensure; pursue professional growth and development.
- Function as a role model for current and new staff.
- Perform all responsibilities required by the emergency unit/critical care division as defined in the scope of service, addressing the unique nature of clients served, including age-specific needs.
- Utilize and follow national patient safety standards and develop evidence-based practice standards.
Requirements
- 2 Year/Associate Degree in Nursing (required).
- 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of hospital Med/Surg experience (preferred).
- Critical care nursing experience (preferred).
- Valid NYS RN license (required).
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required within 6 months.
- TNCC Certification within 1 year of employment (preferred).
- EPNC, SANE certifications (preferred).

Physical Requirements
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, fit testing.
- Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.
Hazards
- Occasional exposure to chemicals, explosives, mechanical hazards, radiation/radiant energy.
- Frequent exposure to bodily fluids/bloodborne pathogens.
Working Conditions
- Occasional exposure to odors.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 for full-time RNs (excluding management). Current employees of Bassett Healthcare Network are not eligible.
Pay
Salary is based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation. Pay range is $39.61–$51.65 per hour.
