About the Role

This position is located at California State Prison, Sacramento (CSP-SAC) in Represa, CA. Main communication for this role will be through email.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 16 to have their base salary reduced by 4.62% and receive 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to these conditions on a prorated basis.

This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rates are: P $30,259, Q $31,136.

Recruitment and retention bonuses may be available for clinicians newly hired with California Correctional Health Care Services. Effective July 1, 2023, employees providing direct in-person patient care more than 50% of the pay period receive a 15% pay differential of their monthly base pay.

Eligible employees may receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend after six months of employment, as well as a monthly differential during their first year (totaling $5,000). CDCR/CCHCS employees may also qualify for a $5,000 referral bonus if the referred candidate is hired and remains employed for 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and participate in treatment planning and case reviews.
  • Prescribe medications and provide crisis intervention and psychotherapy.
  • Provide consultations and training in treatment approaches to clinical and custody staff of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
  • Serve as a member of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing general population outpatient services to inmates.

  • Potential $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend after six months.
  • Potential $5,000 total in monthly recruitment and retention differentials during the first year.
  • $5,000 referral bonus for CDCR/CCHCS employees if the referred candidate is hired and remains employed for 90 days.
