Staff Product Designer, Group Practices

About the role

Headway’s mission is to provide accessible mental healthcare by automating administrative tasks and building tools for therapists to manage their practices. We are currently focused on solving the biggest barrier to care: insurance. Our platform automates credentialing, claims, and payment reconciliation, and we are now expanding to offer supervisory billing, which allows provisionally licensed therapists to bill insurance through Headway. This role involves designing the entire group practice experience, from discovery and onboarding to managing packaging tiers and tracking practice performance.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of the group practice experience end-to-end, including onboarding, supervisory billing, packaging, SLA compliance, and practice management.
• Drive supervisory billing from early product to nationwide scale, designing onboarding, activation, and in-product experiences for supervisors and supervisees as we expand from New York to all 50 states.
• Design for admins and owners as your primary persona, building bulk workflows, role-based views, multi-provider management, and practice-level analytics.
• Adapt platform-wide launches for group practices, ensuring they work within the group practice context, often requiring fundamentally different design approaches.
• Partner with Sales and Customer Success to translate customer insights into product direction and design decisions.
• Contribute to the design system and culture, sharing AI practices, prompts, and patterns with the design team.

Requirements

8+ years of product design experience, with significant time spent designing for multi-user systems with different roles and permissions. Experience designing new product lines, validating business models through design, or taking a product area from early concept to scale. Strong visual and interaction design skills, comfortable with AI prototyping tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and MagicPatterns. Passion for making a meaningful difference in people's lives by expanding access to affordable mental healthcare.

• Experience designing for platforms or marketplaces where segment-specific needs must be balanced with platform consistency.
• Comfortable partnering with Sales and Customer Success as key stakeholders and translating customer relationships into product insights.
• Strong understanding of revenue models and ability to connect design decisions to business outcomes.
• Sharp prioritization skills to determine where design effort creates the most value.

Skills

• Strong visual and interaction design craft across growth surfaces and product surfaces.
• Ability to adapt platform-wide launches for group practices, ensuring they work within the group practice context.
• Experience with AI prototyping tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and MagicPatterns.

• Compensation range: $212,000 - $265,000, based on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $212,000 - $265,000, based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
