About the role
This role is for a Staff Product Designer at Miter, a company that uses AI and embedded payments to rebuild core HR, finance, and operations systems for construction contractors. The ideal candidate will lead design strategy and execution, collaborate with peers in engineering and product, and help shape the vision for AI capabilities at Miter.
Responsibilities
- Own design strategy and execution (interaction design, design system and componentry) across the Miter platform
- Partner closely with peers in engineering and product (as well as cross-functional teams at Miter) to shape the user experience for both new and existing Miter apps
- Work directly with our customers to learn how they use Miter and how it fits into the complex workflows that they use to run their business
- Help shape the vision for AI capabilities at Miter and bring a user-centered lens to AI-powered functionality
- Experiment with new AI tools, processes, and ways of working across product, design, and engineering
- Operate with pragmatism and a first-principles approach to help the team deliver value to customers quickly and consistently
Requirements
- 7+ years in product design at a high-growth software company
- Strong user-centered design skills - keen understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards, demonstrated through a strong portfolio of work
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills - track record of working effectively with product, engineering and cross-functional teams to define design requirements and align on goals
- A bias for action and delivery - Adept at prototyping, running design experiments, and delivering incrementally to unlock insights and launch new products
- Ai-native in how you work - Eager to leverage AI tools to extend what and how you build, and to accelerate teams around you
- 0-1 Delivery - Adept at prototyping, running design experiments, and delivering incrementally to unlock insights and launch new products
Qualifications
- Experience with Figma, Storybook, and other design tools
- Understanding of design systems and component libraries
- Experience with agile methodologies and iterative design processes
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-designers and stakeholders
