Staff Product Designer

About the role

Vitalize is revolutionizing hospital operations by bringing intelligent, automated staffing solutions. Our platform supports clinical leaders with real-time decision support, reducing manual work, labor costs, and improving patient capacity.

Responsibilities

• Own complex product surfaces that span multiple teams and departments.
• Design recommendation surfaces, AI-driven workflows, and data-intensive decision-support tools.
• Set standards for the design team’s processes, including contribution models, documentation, and collaboration with engineering.
• Observe and understand operational workflows firsthand to inform product development.
• Hire and onboard new team members, shaping the design culture and contributing to hiring decisions.
• Maintain and improve the design system, ensuring consistency and quality across the product.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience, preferably on complex, workflow-heavy B2B SaaS products.
• Experience shipping real features to real users and understanding their business impact.
• Ownership of a design system or similar infrastructure.
• Comfortable spending time in the field to observe operational workflows firsthand.
• A mature product mindset, questioning workflows and advocating for user-centric design.
• An AI-fluent perspective, understanding how AI should and shouldn't show its reasoning in a UI.
• The ability to mentor and lead the design team, setting high standards and expectations.

Qualifications

• Product design experience on complex, workflow-heavy B2B SaaS products.
• Experience with design systems and contributing to their development.
• Comfortable working in a startup environment, scaling from co-ownership to a real function.
• Ability to set and maintain high standards for design quality and consistency.
• Experience with AI and its integration into product design.
