Staff Engineer - Municipal Services
Responsibilities
- Aid in the planning, design, and preparation of engineering plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates for municipal infrastructure projects.
- Perform engineering calculations related to grading, stormwater management, drainage, water distribution, sanitary sewer systems, and roadway design.
- Prepare permit applications and coordinate with local, county, state, and regulatory agencies.
- Support project managers in project delivery, scheduling, budgeting, and client communications.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations as needed.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to prepare design documents.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies, and grant applications.
- Coverge with internal disciplines including environmental, transportation, geotechnical, landscape architecture, and water resources teams.
- Review contractor submittals, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and support construction administration activities.
- Participate in client meetings, public presentations, and stakeholder coordination efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 0–2 years of experience in municipal, civil/site, transportation, or infrastructure engineering.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and engineering design software.
- Understanding of municipal infrastructure design principles and applicable codes and regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple assignments.

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, qualifications, and skill set. FPA recognizes and rewards performance through an annual bonus program.
