Position Summary
The Staff Accountant II plays a key role in supporting the organization’s accounting operations by performing account reconciliations, analyzing balance sheet activity, preparing financial reports, and participating in month-end and year-end close processes. This position also assists with audits, supports internal reporting, and provides backup coverage for various accounting functions.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform timely and accurate more complex month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities
- Serve as a resource for less experienced team members and assist with training on accounting processes
- Prepare and post recurring journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Monitor and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and account reconciliations across multiple entities
- Compile documentation and provide support for internal and external audits
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
- Review accounts for unusual trends, fluctuations, or variances and communicate findings to management
- Handle more complex manual transactions including check-by-phone payments, manual EDI entries, incoming wires, NSF items, and bank deposits
- Help lead the collaboration with the collections and cash application teams to ensure proper application of customer payments
- Research and resolve more complex unapplied or missing payments
- Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Assist with ad hoc reporting, special projects, and process improvement initiatives
- Assist with system implementations, ERP enhancements, and testing activities as needed
- Provide backup support for other roles within the accounting department as needed
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated professionalism, business acumen, and integrity
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving environment
