About the role
Triad Bank is hiring a Staff Accountant II to keep the general ledger accurate, strengthen internal controls, and support dependable financial statement preparation and bank regulatory reporting. The role supports month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, external audits, and regulatory examinations, while documenting accounting procedures and recommending process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries with minimal supervision
- Complete complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain supporting schedules and workpapers
- Extract and analyze data from accounting and core banking systems
- Generate and interpret financial reports
- Validate support in spreadsheets and core banking reports, note exceptions, and draft documentation to keep records audit-ready
- Coordinate with Operations, Lending, Treasury, and IT to confirm transaction details and resolve timing or coding questions
- Update close checklists, calculate accruals, refresh fixed asset and prepaid schedules, and organize workpapers for internal review
- Track variances, respond to information requests, and help refine processes to ensure reporting stays accurate and on time

- GAAP and bank accounting practices

- Fixed asset accounting and depreciation
- Prepaid expense and amortization
- Interest income/expense accounting
- Loan and deposit accounting fundamentals
- Internal controls and audit requirements
- Financial reporting and variance analysis
- Regulatory reporting concepts applicable to banks
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (formulas and data analysis)
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, attention to detail, and deadline prioritization
- Effective cross-functional communication
- Ability to explain accounting concepts and mentor Staff Accountant I team members
