About the role

Fifteen Group Capital LLC is a Miami-based real estate private investment firm focusing on opportunity-driven, value-added acquisitions in Florida, Texas, and the broader Sunbelt. The Finance & Accounting team, led by the Controller, provides the financial infrastructure for every acquisition decision, capital deployment, and asset management initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Own Your Accounts & Drive the Close

    • Prepare and post journal entries across multiple entities including Fifteen Group Capital, FAM Residential, and affiliated operating companies.
    • Own a set of balance sheet accounts — cash, AR, AP, prepaid expenses, accruals — and reconcile them monthly with accuracy and thoroughness.
    • Play an active role in the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all assigned accounts are closed on schedule and properly documented.
    • Research and resolve reconciling items quickly, escalating issues to the Controller with clear analysis and proposed resolution.
  • Support Financial Reporting That Matters

    • Help prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements — income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements — across the firm’s entities and properties.
    • Compile financial data, variance analyses, and management reports used directly by ownership for investment and operational decisions.
    • Prepare property-level financial reports in coordination with asset management and property management teams.
    • Support budget preparation and forecasting by delivering clean, well-organized historical data and schedules.
  • Keep the Engine Running — AP, AR & Cash

    • Review and process vendor invoices with proper coding, approval workflows, and documentation across multiple entities.
    • Assist with accounts receivable tracking, tenant billing reconciliations, and cash disbursement management.
    • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all entity and property-level operating accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
    • Cook up intercompany transactions and cash transfers in partnership with the Controller.
  • Support Compliance, Tax & Audit Readiness

    • Maintain accurate, GAAP-compliant financial records and support annual tax preparation and external audits.
    • Assist with 1099 preparation, vendor documentation, and year-end compliance filings.
    • Support sales tax, property tax, and other compliance requirements as directed.
  • Collaborate Across the Firm

    • Partner with property management, asset management, and acquisitions teams to respond to financial data requests and reporting needs.
    • Provide accounting support for new property acquisitions, dispositions, and entity formations.
    • Absorb ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as directed by the Controller.

Requirements

  • Experience & Education

    • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience — real estate, property management, private equity, or a multi-entity environment strongly preferred.
    • Solid foundation in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
    • CPA candidacy or active CPA license is a strong plus.
  • Skills & Strengths

    • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and its practical application across multiple entities.
    • Hightly organized with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right.
    • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines simultaneously without losing accuracy or composure.
    • A collaborative team player who communicates clearly, takes direction well, and brings a solutions-oriented mindset.
    • Self-starter who can work independently on assigned tasks and knows when to escalate.
  • Technical Proficiency

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including formulas and pivot tables.
    • Experience with accounting software; Yardi, Sage, Oracle NetSuite, or similar platforms preferred.
    • Comfortable learning and adapting to new systems and platforms in a growing firm.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation. Base salary of $65,000–$80,000 commensurate with experience, plus an annual performance bonus of 8–15% of base salary.
  • Career Growth. A clearly defined career path from Staff Accountant II to Senior Accountant to Controller within a growing investment platform.
  • Direct Exposure. Work directly with firm leadership in a lean, high-visibility team where your contributions are seen and recognized.
  • Comprehensive Benefits. Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off; and paid holidays.
  • Dynamic Portfolio. Exposure to a diverse multi-entity real estate portfolio spanning multifamily, commercial, and mixed-use assets across Florida, Texas, and the Southeast.
  • Collaborative Culture. A team-oriented, entrepreneurial work environment where smart people work hard, support each other, and take pride in what they build.
