Staff Accountant / Accounts Payable

The Kona Kai San Diego is a boutique urban resort on Shelter Island, featuring 170 guestrooms, Vessel Restaurant + Bar, SpaTerre, a marina, and a private club. We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant / Accounts Payable to join our team.

About the Role

This role reports to the Director of Finance and Controller. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of high-volume Accounts Payable experience, bilingual in Spanish, a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent communication skills, strong time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Process high volume Accounts Payable invoices and pay vendors within terms
• Perform 3-way matching (PO-Invoice-Receiver)
• Maintain vendor records (COI, W-9, etc.)
• Serve as hotel general cashier and prepare daily marina deposits
• Maintain accurate accounts payable files
• Complete monthly A/P accruals as required
• Issue annual 1099s to IRS/Vendors

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of prior high volume Accounts Payable experience
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Time Management skills to complete all work in allotted time
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent attention to details to meet both internal and external client needs
• Excellent problem resolution skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
