Responsibilities
- Manage a large volume of accounts payable transactions with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Examine invoices and related documentation to confirm proper coding, approvals, and compliance with internal procedures before payment processing.
- Record journal entries and assist in keeping general ledger activity organized and up to date.
- Reconcile accounts regularly, investigate variances, and work through outstanding issues to ensure clean financial records.
- Produce and maintain recurring financial reports related to payables, membership revenue, and other accounting activity.
- Contribute to month-end close by preparing schedules, supporting reconciliations, and assisting with reporting requirements.
- Partner with departments and external vendors to address payment questions, correct discrepancies, and improve resolution times.
- Maintain organized accounting records and uphold established internal controls, policies, and documentation standards.
- Provide broader accounting assistance and participate in special assignments as business needs evolve.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting or accounts payable within a high-volume processing environment.
- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations.
- Proficiency with Oracle PeopleSoft or a similar enterprise accounting platform.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, and creating basic financial reports.
- High level of accuracy in data entry with close attention to detail and consistency.
- Able to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks effectively, and stay organized in a fast-paced setting.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a nonprofit, membership-based, education, government, or union environment is helpful but not required.
