We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This role is responsible for keeping financial records accurate, assisting with month-end activities, and helping the organization meet reporting and compliance expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sound knowledge of accounting principles, and a dependable approach to deadlines and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger activity and keep financial records and reports accurate, current, and well organized.
- Prepare journal entries, perform account analysis, and complete reconciliations to support timely month-end close activities.
- Assist with annual budgeting efforts and help evaluate financial performance against projections.
- Maintain accounts payable and purchasing documentation to ensure complete and audit-ready records.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts each month and investigate discrepancies as needed.
- Deliver assigned reporting tasks on schedule while supporting overall accounting deadlines.
- Provide financial information requested by leadership and contribute to audit preparation and support.
- Apply generally accepted accounting principles in daily work to promote accurate and compliant reporting.
- Partner with finance leadership and provide additional accounting support as business needs require.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- At least two years of accounting experience.
- Practical knowledge of GAAP and its application in routine accounting work.
- Strong financial analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills with careful attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced capability in Excel.
- Experience with audit support and nonprofit fund accounting is preferred.
