SSA - Surgical Services Assistant - Outpatient Surgery Center

About the role

Under direct supervision completes tasks, according to skill level, to assist surgery personnel in providing nursing care and surgical services to patients in the operating room area.

Responsibilities

• Completes tasks according to skill level to assist surgery personnel in providing nursing care and surgical services to patients in the operating room area.
• May assist with patient preparation, positioning, and monitoring during surgical procedures.
• Assists with the collection of specimens and other patient care activities as directed by the surgical team.
• May assist with the setup and teardown of operating room equipment and supplies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred Education: Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course.
• Preferred Experience: Previous Nurse aide and/or phlebotomy experience in acute care setting.
• Certifications: BLS certified. Required certification must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• The ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• The ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
