SSA - Surgical Services Assistant - Outpatient Surgery Center - Pre / Post - PRN

About the role

Under direct supervision completes tasks to assist surgery personnel in providing nursing care and surgical services to patients in the operating room area.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient preparation and positioning for surgery.
• Administers medications and fluids as directed by the surgeon.
• Monitors vital signs and provides basic patient care.
• Collects specimens and performs venipunctures as needed.
• Assists with the setup and maintenance of operating room equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course.
• Preferred: Previous Nurse aide and/or phlebotomy experience in acute care setting.
• Certification: BLS certified, required before independent patient care.

Qualifications

• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
