Sr. Tech Infrastructure Program Manager , Amazon Robotics Deployment Engineering

About the role

As a Robotics Deployment Technical Infrastructure Program Manager III (TIPM III), you will oversee multiple project managers and system engineers as part of a program involved in deploying Amazon Robotics solutions. This includes deployments at both new construction sites and live fulfillment centers. The role entails tracking project progress, including deliverables, budget, scope, resource constraints, monitoring vendor performance, addressing technical challenges, and handling escalations within the team and partner teams.

You will manage several projects simultaneously throughout their lifecycle, from planning through execution to closeout, with project durations ranging from weeks to months. The programs may experience significant growth during deployment cycles, requiring the ability to scale with this growth, support hiring, and development efforts.

This position requires 30-40% travel, including across the United States. A valid US driver’s license is required. International travel opportunities may be available for interested candidates.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple simultaneous projects in a highly cross-functional environment, including internal customers, external vendors, and technology partners.
• Strategically direct and deliver projects by providing vision and guidance to a project core team within the framework set by leadership.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and System Engineers to navigate project schedules, risks, and roadblocks.
• Effectively communicate technical information and concepts to non-technical project stakeholders, such as Construction, MHE, Launch, Supply Chain, and Operations.
• Drive the program to achieve its targets, working with leaders in multiple technology areas to improve deployment processes, productivity, quality, and cost.
• Develop new work scopes for programs, including generating RFPs, setting requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for vendors, managing resource expectations, and tracking hardware status.
• Set standards and maintain quality across projects, handling highly technical work scopes related to the installation of robotics equipment.
• Address project management escalations that may arise during installations at construction sites or live operation warehouses.
• Oversee and resolve escalations for multiple projects or at a portfolio level, including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, and monitoring robotics system performance.
• Track multiple projects or a portfolio by owning key KPI metrics around on-time delivery, cost, quality, and sustainability, including technical continuous improvement projects.
• Develop a combined team of project managers and engineers, including skill development, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Read technical drawings and/or CAD models to drive multiple projects or portfolio-level technical improvements and resolutions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in supply chain management, engineering, business management, or other relevant field.
• 7+ years in maintenance, engineering, or launch readiness—building scalable frameworks, playbooks, and deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites.
• 5+ years leading large-scale technical programs with proven thought leadership, business case development, and successful delivery.
• Strong project management skills: resource planning, scheduling, prioritization, cross-functional coordination, and managing multiple complex workstreams simultaneously.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or warehouse environments.
• Proficiency with project management tools.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• 10+ years of experience with technical project portfolio management.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
• Understanding of Robotic, Construction, IT, Material Handling Equipment (MHE) infrastructure, and service concepts.
• Experience launching facilities with robotics automation in retail, distribution, logistics, or similar.
• Large-scale technical project implementation experience.
• Experience working with global (distributed, virtual) teams.
• Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.

• Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, track, and deliver multiple projects on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with robotics engineering, including knowledge of robotic systems, components, and software.

• Ability to provide program-level reports to director-level leadership.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (within and outside of Amazon Robotics).

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to deep dive data to root cause portfolio-level issues and scale resolution across multiple teams.
• Comfort making data-based decisions and providing data backing for decisions.
