About the role

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Sr. Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will be part of the Hardware Engineering team focused on next generation robotic system design, as well as supporting the existing fleet of robotic & automation technology. The TPM will manage the full project lifecycle of large complex innovative programs aimed at improving the efficiency and lowering the cost of Amazon's next-generation Fulfillment Centers.

This position is responsible for the planning and execution of complex large scale NPI programs while serving as liaison between Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Deployment Engineering, Solutions, Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Customer Support, and various program verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the effective and efficient delivery of System and Hardware Product Development programs, working closely with mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems teams
  • Partner with Deployment Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Support Services, and other key stakeholders to define project goals that improve performance, reduce cost, and reduce installation cycle time
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support solution development and integration, including hardware/software integration
  • Triage, prioritize, and execute against incoming field requests for Hardware Engineering support
  • Drive consensus on technical decisions and ensure appropriate resources are employed to deliver high-quality results
  • Lead the partnership between Hardware Engineering, Product Management, and Systems Engineering to develop and decompose comprehensive functional requirements
  • Identify, assess, track, and mitigate issues and risks at the program level
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate project information to stakeholders
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, and collaboration across multiple groups with competing priorities
  • Develop and manage project schedules across all HW disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, Safety, Regulatory, and HW Test Engineering
  • Partner with groups external to Hardware Engineering to successfully deliver on project goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of hardware engineering experience
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment
  • Experience managing multiple projects in parallel through prioritization, planning, and task delegation
  • Experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk management, and critical path management
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional organization
  • Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
  • Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities
  • Ability to develop Gantt charts and identify project critical path

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
  • 7+ years of direct work with engineering teams experience
  • 7+ years of full product life cycle experience
  • Experience in the mechanical or controls field, or experience with robotics work cells and their control systems
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment similar to a high-tech start-up
  • Experience coordinating complex products with stringent technical requirements, development cycles and schedules
  • 3+ years of program or project management experience, or PMP certificate
  • Basic fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electrical design to channel dependencies with partner teams in Manufacturing Test, Reliability, Sourcing, Hardware Quality, Safety, Compliance, EMC, Firmware, Security and Networking

Pay

USA, MA, North Reading - $148,700.00 - $201,200.00 USD annually
