Sr. Proposal Writer

About the role

Supports RIVA's Bid & Proposal organization by developing compelling, compliant proposal content for Federal civilian opportunities while partnering with capture, solution, and delivery teams. The Senior Proposal Writer develops high-quality technical proposal content, translates complex solutions into evaluator-focused narratives, and supports full proposal lifecycle activities including strategy, writing, editing, graphics concepts, and proposal library maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with capture, solution, and delivery teams to develop win themes and discriminators.
• Write, edit, and refine RFP, RFI, white paper, and proposal content.
• Own narrative development for technical, management, past performance, and staffing volumes.
• Interview SMEs and translate technical content into evaluator-focused narrative.
• Edit for grammar, syntax, and one-voicing across multiple contributors.
• Execute win themes at the section level.
• Participate in color team reviews and disposition reviewer comments to help identify and address gaps and risk.
• Develop graphics concepts in partnership with production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years of Federal proposal writing experience.
• Experience translating technical content into compliant proposal responses.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong Microsoft 365 skills including SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Copilot.
• Experience using AI tools for proposal development.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• APMP Foundation Certification or higher.
• Shipley proposal training.
• Experience supporting Federal IT proposals.
• Experience with color team reviews and proposal graphics.

Location: Hybrid - Reston, VA. Terms: Full Time. Travel: 0-10%.
