About the Role

Manages overall product line management strategy, priorities, and regular product management efforts for AE’s products. Leads the medical business unit (BU) product lines in international markets to achieve AE goals for revenue, profit, share, innovation, and customer penetration. Defines objectives for a team of Product Managers and ensures effective cross-departmental collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the product line management function for the medical BU by defining business context, targeting customer segments, guiding product lifecycles, providing forecasts, and managing profitability across organizational boundaries.
  • Assess business and market viability of new product concepts from R&D, Sales, Business Development, Strategic Marketing, Customers, or other inputs.
  • Validate market requirements of target segments through primary and secondary market research.
  • Set priorities for product development in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, balancing resources, schedules, and tradeoffs.
  • Manage directly reporting Product Managers, including personnel, budgets, activities, mentoring, morale, and skill development.
  • Define roles and ensure effective interfaces between Product Managers and other departments (Engineering, Strategic Marketing, Sales, Operations, Marketing Communications, Customer Service).
  • Uphold and improve AE processes, providing tools to enhance Product Managers' effectiveness.
  • Direct product introductions, competitive positioning, and pricing guidelines with Marketing Communications, Strategic Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Service & Support.
  • Develop and implement product marketing strategies and programs to promote products and product lines.
  • Measure and report performance metrics (revenue, profitability, market share, design wins) to support Executive priorities.
  • Lead or delegate the annual business planning process for assigned product lines.
  • May assume additional product management duties as needed.

Work Environment

This role operates in a standard office environment. Extended hours may be required based on market conditions. Travel, both domestic and international, is anticipated up to 25% of work time. The position demands strong interdepartmental communication skills to enlist support across the company. Primary locations include Denver, Colorado, with potential consideration for Eden Prairie, Minnesota, or Wilmington, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including experience managing a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in face-to-face and international/matrix environments.
  • Proven track record in business-to-business negotiations.
  • Ability to make effective decisions amid ambiguity.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Capability to integrate technical and marketing concepts.
  • Willingness to travel in support of company activities.
  • Knowledge of AE customers, their applications, and relevant industries.
  • Understanding of the company’s products and product marketing concepts.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Line Manager.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of Product Managers across a diverse product portfolio.
  • Minimum of 5 years in the Power Supply/Power Electronics market (preferred).
  • Product experience within the Medical Equipment market (highly desirable).
  • Experience working with 3rd party Sales Representatives and Distributors (preferred).
  • B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Science, or equivalent (required).
  • Advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D., or MBA) highly desirable.

Pay

The range of starting pay for this role is $150,000 to $210,000 per year.
