About the role

The Senior Manager, Patient Access provides operational and financial leadership, strategy development, and accountability for the clinical-access front-end revenue-cycle functions across multiple hospital and provider-based clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, supervise, train, and discipline staff; prepare performance reports.
  • Ensure adequate 24-hour staffing.
  • Plan, organize, and control daily patient-access operations to meet department goals, including timely and accurate patient registration, financial counseling, care coordination, and proper payment collection.
  • Implement key business initiatives across all critical areas and meet or exceed established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as patient satisfaction, co-pay, previous-balance collection, registration processing time, and denials.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals to execute problem identification, data gathering, and implementation of strategic actions aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Provide patient-access reports to faculty, administrators, and staff; partner to proactively identify and correct patient-access barriers.
  • Develop, review, and update departmental policies and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to work methods and technology to increase productivity, streamline operations, and advance long-range strategy.
  • Develop and implement the department’s annual budget.
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations for cost reduction.
  • Maintain current knowledge of rules and regulations; educate staff on any changes.
  • Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are trained on controls and University policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience.

Skills

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
