Sr Human Resources Business Partner
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. Non-union, non-patient-facing role.
About the role
Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program seeks an experienced Sr. Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) to support an assigned group of managers, focusing on developing their management skills as well as providing support in employee relations, performance management, and staffing. The SHRBP also provides support to the employees reporting to those managers. The Sr. Business Partner will provide labor relations guidance and support to ensure consistent application of the CBA and BHCHP policies, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to support and sustain a high-performance workforce.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR Business Partner for assigned departments.
- Provide guidance on employee and labor relations, performance management, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and talent development.
- Partner with managers to align HR strategies with operational goals and foster a positive, inclusive, high-performing workplace.
- Advise managers on employee relations, performance issues, conflict resolution, corrective action/progressive discipline, CBA, and BHCHP policy interpretation.
- Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations while ensuring compliance, confidentiality, and impartiality.
- Analyze workforce metrics, stay/exit interview feedback, and employee relations trends to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- Participate in HR team, management, and cross-functional meetings to support organizational priorities, department goals, and internal collaboration.
- Advise and support managers in making and communicating employment decisions.
Labor Relations
- Build and maintain effective labor-management relationships with union representatives.
- Work with the HR Director and Chief Compliance Officer to support collective bargaining negotiations, including strategy, proposal development, costing, implementation, and contract administration.
- Prepare documentation and coordinate with legal counsel on arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, and other complex labor matters.
- Investigate and resolve grievances, complaints, and workplace disputes in accordance with CBAs and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with HR Director and Chief Compliance Officer to design and deliver labor relations training specific to the CBA, employee rights, employer obligations, and procedures.
- Maintain labor relations records, including grievances, arbitration files, seniority lists, and negotiation documentation.
- Provide monthly reports to the union as required.
- Participate in labor-management initiatives and HR projects that strengthen employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, policy development, and change management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of HR Business Partner experience in a unionized environment, including 5–7 years managing labor relations and contract negotiations in healthcare.
- Experience conducting internal investigations and interpreting personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and employment regulations.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws.
- HR certification required (PHR or SPHR); SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain confidentiality, remain impartial, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Pay
Compensation starts at $77,400 – $100,620 annually and increases based on years of experience.
