About the role
Responsible for the development and implementation of merchandising programs primarily for the produce departments of our member stores. Provides consultation with member stores concerning produce merchandising activities.
Responsibilities
- Makes regular planned calls to our member stores serving in a liaison capacity between the store and the warehouse.
- Interprets departmental (Produce) financial and operating statements and advises members regarding strengths and weaknesses within the operation.
- Performs necessary analysis and planning to ensure produce merchandising objectives and priorities for assigned members are established and met within time limits.
- Aids in the development of produce case allocation programs, i.e., plan-o-grams etc.
- Aids in specialized situations such as ordering seasonal produce merchandise, handbills, continuity programs and special programs.
- Works with others to meet total job responsibilities in a satisfactory manner, stressing cooperation, integrity, tact, and consideration with other members, superiors, and co-workers.
- Secures knowledge regarding competitor’s produce merchandising strategies, analyzes the impact of advice on countering measures as required.
- Keeps management informed on all planning, analysis, work performed, and results achieved. Ensures all records required by management are complete, accurate, up-to-date, and submitted on time.
- Provides expert guidance and consultation to member store associates on best practices with merchandising and store operations.
- Presents opportunities and innovative strategies clearly to support maximum sales potential.
- Handles all assigned stores following all warehouse programs.
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: Degree or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Languages Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Schedule
Full-time position with flexible hours to accommodate overnight travel requirements.
