Key job responsibilities
- Own end-to-end program delivery for a portfolio of design programs — from intake and scoping through design delivery and engineering handoff — ensuring quality, timeliness, and cross-functional alignment
- Directly manage high-priority, high-visibility, or complex programs — stepping in to course-correct programs at risk, diagnosing root causes, aligning stakeholders, and driving resolution
- Partner with Design Managers and leadership to align design program priorities with business objectives, product roadmaps, and resource capacity
- Drive cross-functional alignment across Product, Engineering, and Design — ensuring design is integrated into product development lifecycles and that partner teams have the information they need to plan and execute
- Create visibility into program health, team capacity, and program risk — proactively surfacing blockers, risks, and decisions that need escalation before they become crises
- Influence leaders across partner organizations to drive alignment on scope, timelines, and trade-offs — advocating for design quality while balancing business and technical constraints
- Identify and lead cross-cutting initiatives that improve how design teams operate — from process improvements to new mechanisms that raise the bar on delivery quality
- Model best-in-class program management practices that raise the bar for the broader Design Program Management team
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of design experience
- Experience understanding needs of business and end customers and translating them into right solutions
- Experience gathering and analyzing large amounts of data and delivering continuous business improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience working with a cross-functional team across design, operations, and engineering team to meet high-reaching goals
- Experience building operational frameworks, processes, and mechanisms that create leverage across a team or organization
- Experience communicating program status, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership (Director and VP level)
- Experience managing programs through ambiguity — scoping work where requirements are undefined, navigating changing priorities, and making trade-off recommendations
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, including design, development, test, build, deployment processes and timelines
- Experience escalating issues and anticipating and making hard trade-offs between business and customer need
- Experience working within a centralized design organization that supports multiple product lines or business units
- Demonstrated ability to create operational leverage — building systems that enable teams to execute effectively without requiring program management involvement in every workstream
- Track record of managing complex, multi-team programs with significant cross-organizational dependencies (e.g., design system rollouts, platform-level CX changes, multi-device launches)
- Strong systems thinking — ability to diagnose operational challenges, identify root causes, and design solutions that scale
- Experience with design operations disciplines including resource management, capacity planning, workflow optimization, and design quality programs
- Proven ability to facilitate cooperation across diverse design disciplines (visual design, interaction design, motion, sound, UX research) and organizational boundaries
- Experience with Figma, Jira, and design delivery workflows in an agile software development context
