Sr. Claims Specialist, General Liability

About the role

Zurich is seeking an individual to grow their claims career with the Commercial General Liability Team. The role operates under Zurich North America Claims’ hybrid work model, offering flexibility to work individually in a preferred location while supporting in‑person collaboration when valuable. The selected candidate will report to one of the North American Claims offices on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Handle multi‑party commercial line claims of moderate to high exposure and complexity within specific authority limits.
• Interpret General Liability policies and conduct coverage analysis to resolve claims efficiently.
• Collaborate and develop partnerships with internal and external contacts, including customers, vendors, suppliers, and brokers, to deliver a customer‑centric claims experience.
• Learn and apply established protocols and industry best practices for claim handling.
• Support the team of claims professionals by sharing knowledge and contributing to a collaborative environment.

Basic Qualifications

• Juris Doctor with 2+ years of experience in Claims and/or Litigation Management, or Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years of experience in Claims and/or Litigation Management, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience in Claims and/or Litigation Management, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 6+ years of experience in Claims and/or Litigation Management, or Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 6+ years of experience in Claims and/or Litigation Management.
• Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in commercial general liability, auto, or homeowner’s claims handling, including complex litigated and high‑severity injury claims.
• 6+ years of litigation management experience.
• Active adjuster’s license.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to collaborate across work groups.
• Familiarity with claims adjustment process and vendor utilization.
• Understanding of financial and actuarial/reserving concepts.
• Expertise in negotiation strategies and strong strategic thinking.
• Organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Customer service experience.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation

The proposed salary range for this position is $75,800 – $124,100, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. Additional bonuses and merit increases may be offered, and compensation is based on role, location, skills, and experience.
