About the Role

Provide oversight and supervision for the staff responsible for planning and executing off-campus yield receptions, on-campus prospective student events, on-campus yield events, and special population events. Direct strategies to enhance alumni volunteer activities. Recruit and select employees; plan and facilitate trainings and staff meetings; coordinate schedules. Develop strategy for admissions events in collaboration with office leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all logistical arrangements for programs, including reserving rooms, food, A/V support, assigning and managing staff assignments.
  • Direct and provide guidance for a comprehensive report of each event including cost, attendance, highlights, areas needing improvement, and recommendations for future programs.
  • Collaborate as an integral member of the Admissions Visit Experience team to support the flow of campus visits and effective customer service to visiting prospective students and families.
  • Serve as an Admissions Counselor to prospective students and families, including:
    • Overseeing a geographic recruitment territory and conducting activities to recruit academically qualified and diverse students.
    • Visiting high schools, attending college fairs, and representing the University of Vermont both on- and off-campus.
    • Conducting information sessions in a variety of venues.
    • Reviewing and making decisions on undergraduate applications.
    • Serving as Counselor of the Day on a rotating basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two to four years of professional admissions or related experience.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Demonstrated multicultural competency and a commitment to recruit a diverse student population; ability to model inclusivity.
  • Basic computing skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, and familiarity with mainframe student databases).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Organization and event planning skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay

$67,000 - $71,000

Schedule

  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year).
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work required.
  • Eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy.
