Sr Application Engineer

The Senior Application Engineer role at Cadence is designed for individuals who are passionate about leveraging advanced CAE simulation solutions to drive innovation and success in various industries. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team, utilizing Cadence’s comprehensive suite of FEA tools to develop cutting-edge solutions that meet customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical support and deliver effective solutions that enable customers to address complex design challenges using Cadence’s software portfolio.
- Develop high-quality CAE models to support Proof-of-Concept engagements, demonstrating robust pre- and post-processing capabilities.
- Conduct software evaluations, benchmarks, and in-depth technical discussions to improve customer productivity and decision-making.
- Deliver on-site and virtual training sessions, technical presentations, and product demonstrations to support sales and customer success initiatives.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge collateral to support customer education and self-service adoption.
- Proactively identify opportunities to expand and proliferate Cadence product usage within customer environments.
- Communicate customer requirements, feedback, and insights from support engagements to R&D and Marketing teams to influence product direction and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in CAE model development and finite element analysis using industry-standard solvers such as MSC Nastran, LS-DYNA, Abaqus etc.
- Hands-on experience with ANSA and META in aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, or marine applications.
- Knowledge of additional pre/post/solver technology workflows is an added plus.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python; demonstrated scripting capability is a strong plus.
- Prior OEM product development experience is highly desirable.
- Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proven team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to propose and implement process improvements in an evolving environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work at customer sites throughout North America.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of experience in CAE model development and finite element analysis using industry-standard solvers. Hands-on experience with ANSA and META in aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, or marine applications is preferred. Knowledge of additional pre/post/solver technology workflows and scripting experience with Python are also beneficial. Prior OEM product development experience is highly desirable. Strong communication and collaboration skills, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving, are essential.

Pay
Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The Senior Application Engineer role is full-time and based in Livonia, MI. The schedule includes regular business hours with occasional travel to customer sites throughout North America.
