About the role

This role will work remotely from a home office in the Northwest Region (WA, OR, CA) and report to the Regional Sales Manager North Central for Branded Flavor Solutions (BFS). Under the general supervision of the NW Regional Sales Manager, the Sr Account Manager is responsible for achievement of defined independent distributor volume objectives, budgets, and sales plans. This position serves as the primary and day-to-day selling interface at customer and broker HQ, penetrating the highest level within the selling/customer organization, and delivering solutions and thought leadership to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver customer sales and marketing plans for existing accounts, while seeking new business development opportunities.
  • Provide detailed information about each customer to management, including expenditures versus sales forecast, budgeted expenses, business trends, and trade spend.
  • Measure success and failures and formulate specific action plans to address problems and maximize opportunities.
  • Coordinate efforts with local broker network, independent distributor, and operator account networks, including training on McCormick product offerings, policies, and procedures, scorecarding, and performance reviews.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams and various management levels within McCormick, including presenting to executive-level audiences.
  • Use critical thinking in the decision-making process to draw upon professional experience, market and industry knowledge, data, and intuition.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales, marketing, and trade spend plan for region-level distributors.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Food Service and managing Food Service Brokers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel 50%; occasional weekends necessary.
  • Experience in training and managing a food service local broker team.
  • Excellent interpersonal (written and verbal) communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functions, cultures, and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic self-starter, work independently, and apply sound judgment to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once, work under pressure, apply judgment, and ask for aid in prioritizing as applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA in Business or related discipline.
  • Experience in Sales Management with a leading Consumer Packaging Company.
  • Experience participating in projects and supporting key initiatives with the business.
  • HQ relationships with Major Broadline Food Service Distributors.
