Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Assists physicians in Sports Medicine clinic in the delivery of high quality patient care through efficient rooming of patients, scheduling appointments, providing patient and parent education to ensure proper follow-up, assisting in procedures, and fitting braces as needed.
  • Manages patient load in an efficient manner and looks to be a problem solver with scheduling and other time management matters.
  • Obtains prior authorization and pre-certification for diagnostic testing and rehabilitation services as indicated and documents appropriately within the patient chart according to NCH standards.
  • Aids in office administration, patient related communication, and maintenance of reports and processes for the sports medicine program.
  • Coordinates clinical care for sports medicine patients throughout the NCH system and with consulting physicians.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with physicians and other members of the health care team on all patients to ensure high quality patient care.
  • Reviews the utilization of services and patient progress with Sports Medicine physician.

Education Requirement

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Licensure Requirement

A valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements are necessary. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Skills

Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred. EMR experience is also preferred.

FREQUENTLY: Chemicals/Medications, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Patient Equipment, Peripheral vision, Repetitive hand/arm use, Seeing – Far/near, Standing

CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Color vision, Computer skills, Decision Making, Flexing/extending of neck, Hearing acuity, Problem solving, Sitting, Walking

*Additional testing may be required.

Skills
