Speech Therapist - Outpatient

About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist provides outpatient rehabilitation services primarily in in-home settings for the older adult population, including private residences and assisted or independent living facilities.

They evaluate, develop, and implement speech and language therapy plans to improve communication and swallowing disorders, collaborating with patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise support personnel and students as appropriate
• Adhere to treatment schedules and documentation requirements
• Make referrals and order supplies
• Ensure safety and maintain equipment
• Conduct patient assessments and develop treatment goals
• Provide therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognition, speech, and swallowing
• Instruct patients in device use

Requirements

• Valid license in speech-language pathology
• Reliable transportation
