Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Inpatient Rehab - PRN/per-diem

About the role

Select Medical Rehabilitation is a critical illness recovery hospital offering specialized inpatient post-ICU services and rehabilitation for patients with various conditions including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas.

Responsibilities

• Takes initiative, responsibility, and action every day to address the physical, mental, psychological, and social needs of patients.
• Evaluates communication skills and/or swallowing function and provides goal-oriented treatment to maximize communication and/or swallowing potential.
• Maintains an adequate supply of supplies and assists in the development of the SLP role in programs and services.
• Participates in peer review for staff performance and appraisals, and assists in the revision of departmental policies and procedures.
• Monitors the quality of services provided by the Rehab Therapy Department and collaborates with fellow staff to provide quality interdisciplinary patient programming.
• Shares professional knowledge and experiences and alerts the Manager to educational needs.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Certified BLS or completion of BLS within the first 90 days of employment.

• Desire to work in collaboration with associates to provide quality interdisciplinary patient programming.

• Understanding of communication skills, evaluation, and treatment.
• Willingness to share professional knowledge and experiences.
