About the Role
A team of specialized consultants in Apparel and Accessories (A&A) delivers an inspiring guest experience through strong operations, visual merchandising, and welcoming service. This role focuses on creating compelling in-store presentations, assisting guests with outfitting and accessorizing, and driving sales. As a Style Team Leader, you’ll gain skills in guest service, retail fundamentals, inventory management, team leadership, and sales planning.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a consistent, easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by training and holding team members accountable to Target’s service commitments.
- Review guest, financial, and team metrics to identify opportunities, drive improvements, and celebrate successes.
- Plan and execute daily/weekly workloads to meet department and store sales goals, including merchandising, pricing, and promotional strategies.
- Lead a team of consultants knowledgeable about Apparel & Accessories, ensuring they are educated on brands and assortments.
- Model and enforce a safety culture, including hazard identification, incident reporting, and accountability for safe behaviors.
- Oversee the apparel backroom process, including sorting, organization, and replenishment to support salesfloor needs.
- Ensure visual merchandising guides, transitions, and sales plans are accurately executed to maintain a guest-ready floorpad.
- Maintain clean, welcoming, and safe fitting rooms.
- Close skill gaps through coaching, development, and team interactions.
- Execute physical security processes and support merchandise protection strategies.
- Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices, creating equitable experiences, and fostering authenticity and respect.
- Assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities as needed to support the guest experience.
- Address store emergencies and compliance needs, including backup cashier, order pickup (OPU), and Drive-up (DU) duties.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, including those related to adult beverages.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Previous retail experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times
- Capability to access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Ability to interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately
- Experience handling cash register operations as needed
- Ability to climb ladders and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 44 pounds occasionally without assistance
- Flexibility to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift
