About the Role
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. As a Specialty Sales Team Leader, you’ll lead a team of consultants in Apparel and Accessories (A&A), Home, Baby, Core Beauty, or Electronics. Your role focuses on guest experience, operations, and visual merchandising while ensuring product availability and ease of shopping.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a consistent, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by training and holding team members accountable to Target’s service commitments
- Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, drive results, and elevate the guest experience
- Model and coach a guest-first service culture, including inclusivity, authenticity, and respect for diverse voices
- Plan and execute daily/weekly workload to meet department and store sales goals, including merchandising sets, promotions, and inventory management
- Lead and develop a team of hourly consultants, assigning tasks based on workload and guest traffic patterns
- Support visual merchandising, including organizing product, signing, and seasonal displays
- Manage backroom processes, replenishment, and sales floor availability to ensure product accessibility
- Participate in team hiring, onboarding, and skill development to close gaps through coaching and interactions
- Hold team members accountable to safety, compliance, and ethical conduct standards
- Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application of security measures
- Assume store-level leadership duties (LOD) as needed to enable guest experience during assigned shifts
- Assist with guest services such as cashier backup, order pickup (OPU), and Drive-Up (DU) while maintaining compliance
- Occasionally lift or move merchandise up to 15 pounds (frequently) and up to 44 pounds (occasionally without assistance)
- Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Previous retail experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lead, hold others accountable, and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and a welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- Capability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times
- Reliable and prompt attendance; full-time role but hours may fluctuate based on business needs
- Ability to access all areas of the building, interpret instructions, and operate technology (e.g., handheld scanners, frequency devices)
- Physical ability to climb ladders, scan/handle merchandise, and remain mobile for the duration of a shift
- Occasional exposure to varying temperatures and elements (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout)
