Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour. The full pay range is $24.00 - $40.80 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

About the Role

A team of specialized consultants who understand what it means to meet guests where they are and deliver through strong operations, incredible guest experience, and compelling visual merchandising. Teams in Apparel and Accessories (A&A), Home, Baby, Core Beauty, and Electronics prioritize guest experience while blending completion of tasks that ensure product is available and easy to shop—pulling, filling, pricing, setting, staging, and maintaining the sales floor and backroom.

This role helps build and develop skills for a career, including:

  • Guest service fundamentals and building a guest-first culture
  • Retail business fundamentals, such as department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies
  • Planning daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals
  • Leading multiple departments while balancing team expertise
  • Interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating, and retaining talent

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained on, and consistently delivers Target’s guest experience commitments and operational standards.
  • Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on behaviors and execution.
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes guest service, modeling, training, and coaching team members on expectations.
  • Plan daily/weekly workload to execute department and store sales goals, including merchandising sets, planogram updates, sales plans, events, and promotions.
  • Lead and demonstrate best practices, helping close skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Develop, coach, and lead a team of consultants who are knowledgeable and passionate.
  • Assign daily tasks based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Encourage the team to use department tools (e.g., fitting rooms, testers, displays) to provide personalized recommendations.
  • Partner with third-party vendors to ensure brand standards and merchandising are met.
  • Support execution of changes and updates to merchandise sets and visual presentations.
  • Ensure product is organized, signed correctly, and merchandised to support seasonal trends.
  • Lead backroom processes, organization, and replenishment to ensure product availability.
  • Prioritize guest experience by maintaining clean, welcoming, and safe fitting rooms (if applicable).
  • Support your leader in establishing clear goals and holding team members accountable.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead and hold the team accountable.
  • Model and recognize safe behaviors, identify and correct hazards, and assist with incident response.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application.
  • Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience.
  • Address all store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-Up (DU) while maintaining compliance.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Experience communicating on multiple frequency devices and operating handheld scanners and other technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

  • Open to working a variable schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, closing shifts, and peak shopping times).
  • Full-time role, but hours may fluctuate based on business needs and are not guaranteed at 40 hours per week.
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout).
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).

Physical Requirements

  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
  • Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Climb up and down ladders as needed.
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance.
  • Flexible work schedule and reliable, prompt attendance.
