About the role
Joining AdventHealth is about extending the healing ministry of Christ. As a member of the specialty pharmacy team, you will be part of a community dedicated to the whole person, serving both patients and providers.
Responsibilities
- In-depth understanding of specialty pharmacy services and ability to articulate to staff to ensure processes are followed appropriately.
- Thoroughly understands AdventHealth prescription plan and communicates with staff, patients, and providers regarding eligibility, formulary, copays, and prior authorizations.
- Serves as a point of escalation for calls requiring higher expertise or discretion to resolve customer issues and ensures timely resolution.
- Maintains a working knowledge of fulfillment and shipping processes as they relate to specialty medications.
- Works with pharmacy purchasing team to receive needed medications and maintain an accurate inventory.
- Communicates with manager regarding work priorities and provides feedback regarding requests, projects, and assignments as appropriate.
- Conducts monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports, reviews overall staff accountabilities and performance, and participates in the recruitment process for pharmacy technicians.
- Develops, facilitates, and monitors training of new department staff and plays an active role in maintaining competency of staff.
- Provides feedback for introductory and annual evaluations of all new hires/transfers into the specialty department and assists with corrective action and coaching as necessary.
- Maintains accountabilities for department staff, ensuring compliance with Rx Plus/Expedien and AdventHealth policies.
- Actively communicates standards with staff and completes audits as necessary.
- Works within registered pharmacy technician scope of practice.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to multitask and be flexible in moving from task to task within the department while maintaining composure and staying organized.
- Accuracy and attention to detail; excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret prescriptions and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of insurance plans and coordination of benefits including secondary insurance (copay assistance).
- Knowledge of resources to assist patients with their health care including foundations and societies.
- Good customer service skills and values teamwork.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency skill set in MS Office.
- Spanish speaking.

- Education: Associate's degree [Required], Bachelor's degree [Preferred]
- Field of Study: N/A
- Work Experience: 5+ years of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in specialty pharmacy [Required], Previous experience in healthcare, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), managed healthcare service organization, insurance company, or other health related entity [Preferred], Leadership experience [Preferred]
