Responsibilities
- Understand and perform to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- May support leadership during audits.
- Ship, receive, and track packages and specimens while maintaining the integrity of samples, as needed.
- Receive, classify, and process specimens in an accurate and expedient manner.
- Inspect specimens and paperwork for accuracy and acceptability.
- Maintain sample identity and ensure samples are handled and stored at appropriate temperatures to prevent loss of sample.
- Use appropriate systems to accurately perform data entry functions.
- Proofread own work for content, spelling, accuracy, and document format.
- Maintain sample integrity and ensure proper identification of all specimens.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing, as needed.
- May perform reagent preparation.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance and calibration on equipment, as needed.
- Properly identify and clearly document sample issues or discrepancies and work with client to resolve, as appropriate.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to email requests with professionalism and a high degree of courtesy and responsiveness.
- Research and resolve issues with follow up to customers in a prompt manner.
- Use written and verbal communication skills to provide exemplary customer service to internal and external customers, and appropriately document interactions.
- Maintain organization of departmental records, as needed.
- Support the maintenance of reagent and supply inventory, as needed.
- Work weekend and holiday rotations, as scheduled.
- May train others on job tasks, as assigned.
- Maintain all applicable competencies, sufficient continuing education credits, and perform duties in accordance with laboratory policy.
- Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years attendance at an accredited college, university or technical college with emphasis in a science/medical related field preferred.
- 1-3 years customer service experience required.
- 1-3 years medical related experience or training preferred.
- Data entry or LIS (Laboratory Information System) experience preferred.
